The Churches Conservation Trust

The Churches Conservation Trust is the leading charity conserving England’s most beautiful and historic churches which are no longer needed for regular worship. It promotes public enjoyment of these churches, and encourages their use as an educational and community resource and currently has 342 churches in its care.

It produces its own learning resources to assist group leaders and interested adults wanting to learn more about England’s most interesting churches: free leaders’ information booklets for a selection of churches and dedicated education pages on the website featuring project details. Exploring Churches

The popular publication Exploring Churches was described as “So user friendly” by the Education Officer at Bristol Cathedral, and as “outstanding (it) deserves to be known far and wide” by the Honorable Director of Friends of Friendless Churches. This resource is for educational group leaders, parents and those engaged in lifelong learning.  It aims to help them make the most of a visit to a church and churchyard and is packed full of interesting ideas for activities for site visits and beyond.  Included are photocopiable drawings and resource sheets, a Picture Library, Timeline and on-site activity sheet.
